My Tryst with Nature : The Chandra Forest Story Part 4

The story so far: A snake starts to growl from the nearest bush to the tent where we are staying. But no one, not even the experienced villagers was able to find the snake. But why it is angry?

“Now what to do ?” with a voice of submission I replied to the chairman.

“Let me see. Our people have come. You all kindly move away and stand on something that the Cobra can not reach. Because if it suddenly comes out it will try to bite the nearest living creature which it will conceive as a threat.”…looking at my team the Chairman directed.

However one of my teammates refused to agree with the instructions as he is also from a village located in the other part of Bengal. He also joined the search party. I jumped up to the “Khatia” and the other remaining members moved to a distance far away from the bush from where the sound was coming.

However, after three to four hours of searching nothing can be found. So the villagers stop their search and return to their village as within that time the darkness of night is slowly but steadily engulfing the place. When all the villagers returned the chairman told to the two people who were looking after us :

"Please stay here tonight. Don't abandon the city dwellers."...and with a smile, he departs for his village. Thus, we were joined by the two villagers who were taking care of us for the evening. Following the completion of their cooking and our own dinner, we all gathered to talk about the things that had happened today. We built a fire and sat around it, each holding a cup of coffee.

.....Now Rusa got really agitated. This person, Rohit, is really harassing her. But how can he know so much about the incidents of that unfortunate night? And who are they? Are they from the Police or CID? Are they reporters? Accomplices of Sankar or his rival gang? Rusa was really confused. She was under immense stress and at that very moment the other member of the trio, Raj, shouted at Rohit and instructed him to stop his interrogation of Rusa as the time for the Safari they had booked was nearby.

- Yes I am coming, Rohit obliged and moved away from Rusa with a quipping smile and ran towards Raj.

His friend Raj and Mr.Gomez were waiting for him.

They had booked a Private Jeep through the Hotel for the jungle safari. Two more tourists will join them along with a guide from the Forest Dept. and the Driver of the Jeep. In total seven people will travel through the jungles of Simplipal. This safari jeep has three rows of seats. The first row is reserved for the driver and the guide. The second and third rows can accommodate six guests. As there are five guests, all of them can travel comfortably.

The other five people were waiting for them in the Jeep. Once the trio embarked on the car their suffari started.

Known for its diverse flora and fauna, Simlipal is home to several endangered species, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, and Indian Bison. This forest plays a vital role in preserving the region's biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance, making it an important area for conservation efforts and research.

In Simplipal Reserve Forest, the land cover types include dense forests, grasslands, wetlands, and agricultural patches. These different land cover types support a wide range of plant and animal species, contributing to the overall biodiversity of the area. The Blue Rafflesia Part 13

 

The Hubbulu Gangs, led by Chotu Miah, are arrested by the local police after attempting to extort money from a businessman in Shahidnagar. They were initially surprised by the promptness of the arrest and were unsure of their destination. Pandey Ji, the leader of the Gangs, is frightened and tries to find a CC TV recording to determine who threw the object at him. Pandey Ji is informed by the Cyber Cell that the recordings will be delivered within the next day.

Prof. Bhattacharjee is busy reminiscing about the events of the past few days and is searching for a link to establish the reason behind the holographic Tiger being released. He is concerned that the attacks on him and his children are warning him about something. The Simlipal Reserve Forest is experiencing a dark night due to rain and overcast conditions. Many staff members have been sacked due to the incident, and Rusha, the manager of the resort, is increasingly suspicious about the activities happening in the forest.

Rusha is trying to avoid questions about the incident where Ganesh and his acquaintances were killed in the presence of the Tiger. Police have said that they were killed not by the Tiger but by gunshots. Rusha is trying to avoid questions about the incident but is pertinacious. One of the guests, Rohit, asks Rusha about the food Ganesh had while staying at the resort. He is unable to reveal the details due to resort policy, leading to chaos.

The resort's manager intervenes to get the same breakfast that Ganesh ordered. The same guy approaches Rusha and apologizes for his behavior, saying she would understand why it was done.

Recipes for Jungle Camping

 

Recipe 1: Breakfast: Potato and Bread Scramble with Peanut Butter

I'll spend one night and two days at the camp. As a result, I'll have to prepare two breakfasts. So I'm going to make Potato and Bread Scramble with Peanut Butter on the first day.

In the first step, you cut the bread into very small pieces. Then drizzle the egg yolk over the bread and scramble. Put the mixture in a microwave-safe bowl, then set the bowl inside the solar cooker. Place the cooker in direct sunlight. The mixture will be ready to eat in about 15 minutes. Add peanut butter to the mixture now. Mix thoroughly and consume.

Time taken for preparation: 15min

Ingredients Used: Bread, Egg and Peanut Butter.

Recipe 2 : Breakfast: Boiled Pulse and Potato Sandwich

This recipe is for the second morning.

The pulse needs to be soaked overnight. After coming to the camp you have to cut the potatoes into small pieces which will be used as potato chunks. Following that the pulses and potato chunks can be set between two slices of bread. Two toothpicks can be used to secure the bread slices. Now, some oil will be drizzled into the microwave bowl and then the Sandwich will be placed inside the solar cooker.

The cooker needs to be placed under direct sunlight for 30 minutes, and the Boiled Pulse with Potato Sandwich will be ready to eat after half an hour if direct sunlight is available for the entire duration.

Time taken for preparation: 30min

Ingredients Used: Bread, Potato, and Cooking oil.

Weekend Visit to Durgabari Tea Estate,2022

 

When your mind wants tranquility, you may need to find a place where calmness is at its strongest. To experience the silence that has been missing from your life, you go there.

You can pass the time and avoid boredom while there is silence by reading adventure stories, which will keep you busy.

On 29th May 2022 started a journey by car, to the mesmerizing view of the Durgabari Tea Estate.

We started in our own car from the NIT Agartala.

The first stop was in the Guest House named Green Touch Resort.

Spend the day there with Coffee and reading books on the adventure.

You may also opt for the food served in the resort as per your choice from reception.
