We visited Vietnam in October 2024 from Kolkata to Ho Chi Minh Airport, Vietnam, by Indigo Flight. Then we stayed at an Airbnb homestay named "Golden Mansion." We boarded the plane around 8:40 pm and reached Vietnam around 1:40 am(IST). To enter Vietnam you need e-visa or you can also do an on arrival Visa but it will take time.
The owner of the Airbnb sent us a vehicle that was chargeable. People are friendly and cooperative, but they don't know English. So, you have to use Google Translate all the time.
The next day we go for a city tour, not by booking any tour operator but by ourselves with the help of bikes and taxis, which are very easy to access. We visited Landmark 81 Tower and The National Vietnam War Museum or the State Museum in one day.
Landmark 81 is the tallest building in Vietnam. From 2018 to 2023, Landmark 81 held the title of the tallest building in Southeast Asia. Skydeck which is also the highest floor of the tower will help you have a bird eye view of the entire city. But they take a hefty entry fee to enter that floor.
According to the Official Website of the Museum: "The National Vietnam War Museum project was formalized in 1998 to develop a national venue that would create an atmosphere of learning about the Vietnam War era, and engage people of all ages, nationalities, and political points of view." You can find many photos captured by foreign journalists during the War between Vietnam and the USA. The level of horror that the common villagers of Vietnam faced at that time is indescribable but available in the Museum. You will be surprised to know that many babies are born with deformities due to the impact of the chemical bom that was dropped on Vietnam during that time.
On the third day, we go for a river cruise ride, which includes dinner, folk dance, etc. and a cruise on the River Saigon which is the major river of Vietnam. The experience was lovely and soothing. The ambience will make you relax with the sweet folk music of Vietnam that will be played after the boat starts to sail. The cruise will take around 2 hours to complete. It will start and finish on the same port. We boarded the boat at Tôn Thất Đạm and returned at the same place after 2 hours. This place is also known as the Mekong River Tours [Asiana Link Travel].
That concluded our first part out of three phases:
First Phase: Capital City
Second Phase: Danang City
Third Phase: Bana Hills.
See you next week for the videos on second phase which was captured in the beautiful Da Nang City and Beach.
Chao for now
